2013 CorgiButts Secret Santa Gift Exchange!

We participated in the Corgi Butts Secret Santa gift exchange again this year!  Of course this year Gwen was a little impatient to open her present…plus we kept seeing other Corgis that had already opened theirs…we wanted in on the fun too! 😉

Gwen with present.

“After I opened my prezzie I had to pose for pictures. (Silly hoomins.)”

Hi everyone! Gwen here.  Da hoomin let me tell all about my presents!  I got some Greenies Joint Care nom noms to chew on to keep my little dwarf joints all healthy!  AND I also got a Corgi squeaker flopsie!  Da momma is happy it has no stuffings but da daddy hoomin thinks I a pest because I take my new squeaker toy and jumps on the couch and squeakes it on top of him.  I is such a good Corga, not sure what he is talking about!

Isn’t this so cool?!

And just in case you are wondering where Hermann and his humans got this gem from I will post the link HERE for you.  They also have all sorts of other breeds! 🙂

Thank you to Hermann and his hoomins!!!!!  I lurves my prezzies!!!  — Gwen

The Corgi name(s) that we drew were Luna and Twinkie.  They have already opened their presents and know that we were their secret santa.  They have a Facebook page too!  These are Gwen’s new fur-iends with part of their present from us:

Twinkie & Luna

We got them some nom noms and a couple little greenies and their human told me they liked bandanas so I made some bandanas and we got them puzzle toy too!  (Black Friday dog & pony shopping is AWESOME!)

One last thing to share was this Corgi Nose Art sticker that we got for Luna & Twinkie’s owner.  I just happened to also buy one for my new car too! 😉

Christmas is right around the corner!!! Gwen is getting her letter ready for Santa.  Though I feel sorry for Santa since Gwen wants to leave dog biscuits for him…we tried to tell her he like HUMAN cookies but her reply was only, “why would I want to leave cookies out of humans for him?!”

We open this now?

We got caught mid-flash…these are our Kristen Stewart impressions.

Gwen’s new stocking she got, hanging on her crate!

Our secret santas were Sawyer & Kayley!

We really enjoyed being a part of the Corgi Butts Secret Santa gift exchange this year and we look forward to doing it again next year!!!  (Assuming there will be one next year!)

Gwen sure does like her new toys!  She doesn’t know what to do with herself since she got her secret santa toys the toys from her stocking and from other family members!  Her toy box is brimming!  She’s all tuckered out after all the festivities the past couple of days too.

Thank you Sawyer & Kayley! 🙂

Happy Christmas Eve!

In case we don’t get a chance to say it later, MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

Before I get into anything else I just wanted to say that GWEN WAS ON THE DAILY CORGI TODAY!!!! 😀  Here is the link to that.

We have had a busy weekend getting ready for guests and Christmas dinner.  Gwen got to open her Corgi Secret Santa present this afternoon!  We will definitely be posting what she got later this week — expect that post after Christmas sometime. 🙂  I will say that Gwen’s present came from Sawyer, a Corgi in Canada!  I will say that she loves her presents that she got!  And her stocking which is now hanging on the outside of her bedroom aka crate.

I’ve made 2 of our 3 pies so far!  Chocolate and Pumpkin.  Mincemeat will be later today.  I love pie!

Gwen went swimming on Saturday and I got a bunch of good pictures this time (again)!  I will do a short one on that later this week too.  After swimming we got to take her raffle winnings home too.

This antler looks like a fang to me and being the Harry Potter fan that I am, I decided that it was a Basilisk Fang!  It could also be a Saber Tooth Tiger’s tooth or a Walrus/Elephant Tusk.  You take your pick!

Yes?

Just looking cute holding my antler, no big deal!

The 12 Days of Corgi Christmas!

Gwen’s Corgi Secret Santa package arrived in the mail today!!!  It is from Ontario!!!  I think I am more excited than Gwen since she does not yet know that it is for her!  I stuck it under the tree where it will sit until it is time to open it! 🙂

On the Twelfth day of Christmas my Corgi gave to me…

12 muddy paw prints

11 chewed cables

10 ankle nips

9 spilled water bowls

8 minutes barking

7 shredded bills

6 socks with holes

5 destroyed shoe laces

4 hours sleeping

3 slobbered cats

2 soggy raw hides

and a cold wet nose poke in the eye!

NOTE:  I do not take credit for the creation of that rendition of “The 12 days of Corgi Christmas.”  I found it on Facebook.  I would however like to attempt to make one that fits Gwen better than this one, we have no cats to slobber on.  I may attempt that in the near future. 🙂

The last part of the “song” reminded me of something!  Last night while I was laying on the couch with Gwen, waiting for Andrew to come home, Gwen was being very nice and cuddly.  We both had our heads on the pillow and I was kind of dozing off to sleep with the puppy next to me.  All of a sudden I get poked in the face with her nose and I have whiskers tickling my face!  It startled me!  I jumped and woke up and in the process I scared Gwen.  The look on her face was priceless!

In the spirit of “The 12 Days of Christmas”…I have to share this song!  It’s a favorite! 🙂

It’s Beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

PREPARING FOR PUPPY’S FIRST CHRISTMAS! 😀

Gwen isn’t quite sure what to do about all these new decorations or the giant green monster (tree) that the humans dragged into the house this weekend.  She didn’t pay much attention to the tree for most of the day until evening when she started to bark at it.  I’m not sure if she thinks it is any better with lights on it, or ornaments.  I made her sit under it to get some pictures with my new tree skirt, and now that we have picked out which star to put on the top I will have to get another picture!  (I bought 2 stars since I couldn’t choose at the store.)

Monday, Gwen had a stand-off with the Christmas tree.  She kept hopping around, growling and barking at it!  Not sure who won…

I bought her a Christmas sweater, I’m horrible, I know.  The sweater is just a tad small now so I might have to cut it so it fits her chest better.  She’s grown since I bought the last doggie clothing item.  The sweater will look cute for when we get a “family” picture!

I think it killed her

She finally gave in to the sweater. You can see the pattern of her sweater here.

I wrapped up our present today for the Corgi Secret Santa Gift Exchange!  I am so excited to get this in the mail and also to receive Gwen’s present!!!

My little dorkapotamus dog has taken a liking to the Christmas wrapping paper…the other day I caught her in the office with it.  She had chewed off an entire corner (large, think hand size)!  She keeps nibbling on the presents and the rolls.  I whacked her with the wrapping paper tube when I caught her chewing on presents and paper rolls and it worked, I think.  We shall see.  She’s only done it a couple times so far.  She was laying on top of them earlier while NOT chewing on them earlier.

As you should know by now, Gwen has a strong tendency to steal socks.  She does not discriminate from clean or dirty, male or female.  They are all good in her book.  Well, she has been stealing them and stashing them under our bed.  She has figured out that the humans take away the socks when she runs out into the living room with them but they can’t get under the bed!  We pulled at least ten socks out from under the bed last night!  She had them stashed in different spots, mostly in the middle but some were between the stuff we have stored under there.  That would explain why we have so many pairs of socks that were incomplete!

Yesterday, I felt fat and lazy. So I went to the gym. Then after coming home and showering, I ate 2 cookies. Those really good soft sugar cookies with the frosting on top. Kind of negated any good that my workout did… but they tasted so good!!! A theory I like to operate on is “I went to the gym, I EARNED this!”  another theory of a friend of mine “oh this large pizza doesn’t count because I went to the gym today…”  I like her theory too. 🙂  I have not felt very motivated lately, especially with crazy upstairs asking “hey, when you are you going to the gym again?” because she wants to tag along.  I don’t really want to go to the gym with her.  I feel she would talk my ear off and then I wouldn’t be able to focus and I would probably fall and break my neck.

Status update on our water situation:  Moved the washer and dryer out and cleaned the walls and floor behind there and then cleaned our bathroom floors.  It is starting to smell better.  I have also become one of those people that lights candles everywhere to make the room smell better.  I also have Glade Plug-ins and one of those scented oil things.  The smell is getting better.  I am also catching up (slowly but surely) on the huge accumulation of laundry that we had after Thanksgiving weekend that was prolonged through last week’s water debacle.  Our washer also cut through the linoleum when we put it back.  I wonder how much that’s going to cost us…the lady at the office said not to worry about it when I went to report it.  So I wonder what that REALLY means…  Either way, things are looking up!  I hope.

Also, you should check out this page.  It has a bunch of cute corgi pictures.  This corgi likes to play dress up!  http://www.buzzfeed.com/catesish/meet-corgnelius-the-cutest-corgi-ever

Tomorrow (?) I will post the pictures of puppy with the tree!  I think they deserve their own post.  🙂

Visiting Home

I am back home visiting family for a week, but it sure has been eventful both here in WA and back home in SC!  Gwen did not end up coming with me.  I figured it would be too stressful for her to travel so far/long in a plane twice within a week.  Since I have been here, I have Skyped with Gwen (well, with the husband too) and she did the head tilt thing since she didn’t understand what was going on when she heard my voice (not sure if she realized it was my face on the screen or not) but couldn’t smell me.  It was adorable.  And she barks when I talk to Andrew on the phone. 🙂

Gwen tried to help me pack and chewed on my luggage tags…silly puppy. 🙂

My parents are moving out of their home that I basically grew up in and moving to the other side of town.  They are downsizing and it is time I get all my stuff packed up and moved out of their house.  I left a bunch of stuff here when I moved to SC this summer but now it is time I actually do something about it.  Hence the reason I am back.  Also, visiting since I won’t be with them for the holidays.  Packing things up, getting rid of stuff, and just organizing things is so exhausting!  I have gone to bed so early each night.  I don’t think I’ve gotten on the right time zone but at this point I don’t think it matters.

I arranged for a neighbor to let Gwen out and feed her all week while I am gone since Andrew works long days since he didn’t want the dog to go to the kennel since he’d be home at night/in the AM.  Well it worked out great on Monday but on Tuesday (extra long day too) when A came home it wasn’t as good…apparently Gwen was never let out nor fed!  APPARENTLY our dog sitter thought it was only for Monday that she needed to take care of the dog!  Andrew found out Wednesday morning when she came to return the key….  So now we have to work something else out.   I am NOT happy about this one bit!  There will be no more listening to the neighbor’s drama now.  It will be hello-goodbye-I’m-going-inside-now!  And next time their bathroom overflows into mine and soaks my ceiling, floor, rugs, etc. I am not going to be as understanding/forgiving.  I am pretty sure we have things growing in our ceiling because of our neighbors…I cannot wait for Andrew to get orders so we can find out where we are going next!!!!!!  Either way we are not living in an apartment next, THANK GOD!

On a happier note, we’ve got plans for Thanksgiving that involve a trip to Atlanta to see my cousins who also have a Corgi!!!  They have a Cardigan Welsh Corgi, but they were the ones to first introduce me to the Pembroke Welsh Corgi.  I will have to post the picture of their ol’ dog.  He was so sweet and super smart!  Such a cool little dude! 🙂

Today on the Corgi Butts blog, they posted about this year’s Corgi Secret Santa!  We are looking forward to being a part of this!!! 🙂

This is Frasier.  He visited us when we lived in GA when I was little.
